Hello guys!
I don't know if you still remember, but at the start of this year, there was a problem with people from around Finland-Poland having difficulties using teamspeak without lag. I managed to fix that with using a free proxy server, and I relayed our whole teamspeak through it. This was a good compromise, because everybody got decent pings from everywhere, although TS sometimes disconnected for no reason. The thing is, I got a messaga that this proxy will going to be pay-only. As I don't think it's a capital idea to pay another 15 EURs/month for a proxy, I decided to use my head, and follow through a different solution. Our server is currently in the Netherlands. In the last couple of days, I skimmed through our whole user database, and made a traceroute ping to different other servers. After getting enough data, I decided to migrate the whole teamspeak server from the Netherlands to easter-south Germany. Looks like a server around there gives the best results, and we don't have to use a proxy anymore (trivia: Teamspeak servers basically supposed to be used by denizens of the same country. But as we an international clan, of course we spread out.).
How this relate to you:
- Firstly, this means that there will be a downtime. This will happen at this saturday, 1:00 CEST (basically middle of the night, from friday-to-saturday). This will not be more than 20 minutes. If I manage to sleep in for some reason, then I do it after I woke up.
- I don't know if anybody has anything I haven't thought about, but if you do have some qualms, do write down your opinion now, because the migration has a one time-cost, and once it's done and payed, cannot be undone without paying another batch.
Nothing will going to change regarding functionality, even the address and port will stay the same.
